Westwood kept the momentum rolling in dominant fashion Monday, taking down Norton 12-1 behind a complete team effort on both sides of the ball.
The Wolverines wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out early with a three-run first inning. Teddy McGowan got things started, and Ryan Petres delivered the big swing to give Westwood immediate control. From there, they never looked back.
Chase Warren led the charge offensively, driving in four runs and impacting the game in multiple ways — including a clutch two-run triple and aggressive base running that kept Norton on its heels all afternoon.
Westwood continued to apply pressure throughout, adding runs in the third and breaking things open with a big fifth inning. The Wolverines showed patience at the plate, working counts and drawing walks while capitalizing on key opportunities to extend the lead.
On the mound, Patrick Hunt set the tone with a strong five-inning performance, allowing just one run (unearned) while limiting hard contact and keeping Norton off balance. Dylan Lewandan came on in relief and closed things out cleanly to secure the win.
At the plate, McGowan stayed hot with three hits, while Brendan Cengic added a multi-hit effort and drove in runs to help fuel the offense. As a team, Westwood combined timely hitting with disciplined at-bats to keep the lineup moving all game long.
With the win, the Wolverines improve to 5-0 on the season and will look to keep it rolling on Wednesday as they hit the road to take on Norwood.
