Watch the Sunset from Great Blue Hill at Friends of the Blue Hills’ Annual Sunset Hike & Hilltop Concert

By: Melissa Nelson

There are few better ways to experience the Blue Hills than from the summit of Great Blue Hill at sunset in fall as the leaves change color. On Saturday, October 10, Friends of the Blue Hills will invite the community to hike to the summit, enjoy a picnic with a view, and listen to live music at its annual Sunset Hike & Hilltop Concert.

From 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., visitors can hike to the summit on their own or join one of FBH’s guided hikes. Once at the top, guests can settle in with a BYO picnic and enjoy live music from Retro Rockets, a local classic rock and oldies cover band with a festive vibe.

The event offers an opportunity to experience the Blue Hills in a different way — and to connect with the landscape and community that make the Reservation a special place for people all over the region.

“The Sunset Hike & Hilltop Concert is one of our favorite ways to show people that there are so many ways to experience the Blue Hills,” says Volunteer and Education Program

Manager John Harrell. “You can come for the hike, the sunset, the music, the view — or simply to spend a fall evening outside with other people who love this place.”
