Thomas Behrmann scored 33 points to pace Medfield as the Big Blue remained undefeated in league play with a 77-40 home win over Westwood Tuesday night. Behrmann and his teammates were sharp from the floor and aggressive on defense, forcing turnovers that made the difference.

Medfield, whose only loss of the season is a two-point defeat at the hands of Lincoln-Sudbury, was effective in pressuring the ball, limiting Westwood’s ability to freely move offensively. The Big Blue jumped out to an early lead, but the Wolverines chipped away thanks to buckets from Robert Liriano-Alejandro, Ty Pindel and Adrian Ortiz. A 14-12 game was blown open thanks to a 10-0 run from Medfield. Charlie Smits’ three-pointer at the end of the first quarter gave Medfield a 17-12 lead going to the break, and the home team added seven more points to start the second quarter, opening up a 24-12 lead.

Behrmann lit it up offensively, finishing the first half with 18 points as Medfield led by twenty at halftime. Liriano-Alejandro paced Westwood, finishing with 14, but no other Wolverines finished in double figures, as coach Ryan Douglass gave a number of young players some time on the court in the second half.

Seamus Gannon scored six for the Wolverines and was a strong presence under the basket. Greyson Vogt finished with 12 for Medfield, who hit nine three pointers as a team.

Westwood returns home for a critical game against Holliston this Friday night. The Wolverines won the first matchup between the two teams this season, on the road, 53-50.
