After six days off, Westwood Boys Hockey returned to action on the road looking to respond, earning a convincing 7–1 win over TVL Small opponent Bellingham.
The opening period featured some early rust from both sides, with tight checking and limited scoring chances as each team worked to find its rhythm. Westwood broke through midway into the period when Nolan Lewis opened the scoring six minutes in, burying a one-touch shot off feeds from Matty Donovan and Brian Sullivan to give the Wolverines a 1–0 lead.
Westwood found its stride in the second period and began to take control. Ben Sicular doubled the lead early in the frame, snapping a bar-down shot from the top of the circle off a perfectly timed drop pass from Paddy Dalton, with Sebi O’Brien also earning an assist.
Sicular wasn’t done. Moments later, he struck again, splitting the defense on a feed from O’Brien before finishing in tight for his second goal of the night. Lucas Willette added the secondary assist as the Wolverines pushed the lead to 3–0.
As the second period wound down, Westwood capitalized on the power play. Crisp puck movement led to a quick-touch finish from Lewis, who buried a tic-tac-toe sequence from Luke Martin to Sullivan, giving Lewis his second goal of the game and sending Westwood into the break with a commanding 4–0 advantage.
The Wolverines kept their foot on the gas in the third. Dalton made it 5–0 with strong net-front presence, tipping home a Willette shot past the Bellingham goaltender. Shortly after, hats hit the ice as Lewis completed the hat trick, finishing a clean cross pass from Sicular with under two minutes remaining, with Ryan Romiza on the secondary assist.
Westwood closed out the scoring when Willette converted from a sharp angle off a rebound created by Sicular, with O’Brien picking up another assist.
In goal, CJ Hancock was steady and composed in his first career varsity start, making timely saves to preserve momentum and anchor the Wolverines from the back end.
Lewis and Sicular led the way offensively, while sophomore O’Brien delivered an outstanding playmaking performance, recording four assists — a rare and impressive feat that highlighted the Wolverines’ unselfish approach.
With the win, Westwood improves to 4–2 overall and 4–0 in the TVL. The Wolverines return home next Wednesday to take on Norton in another league matchup.
