Ferreira, Rezek & Chilangwa Score As Westwood Boys Soccer Opens Season with 3-2 Road Win over Holliston

The Westwood boys soccer team opened its 2025 campaign in thrilling fashion, earning a 3-2 road victory over Holliston in a Tri-Valley League Large Division showdown on Tuesday.
 
Early Firepower
The Wolverines wasted no time making a statement, storming out to a 3-0 lead behind goals from senior captain Trevor Ferreira, senior Owen Rezek, and junior Leo Chilangwa. The scoring was set up by key assists from defender Ethan Buttner, Avik Sattiraju, and Ferreira.
 
Ferreira, widely regarded as one of the TVL’s premier goal scorers, picked up right where he left off last season. Rezek added to the attack as well, continuing his reputation as one of the most dangerous players with the ball at his feet. His chemistry with Sattiraju was on display once again, as the duo combined to create scoring opportunities.
 
Perhaps the biggest storyline of the night was Chilangwa’s goal. After missing nearly all of last season due to injury, his return brings size, skill, and leadership back to the lineup — and his impact was felt immediately.
 
Holding Off the Panthers
Holliston battled back late, converting a penalty kick and adding another quick goal to cut the deficit to one. But Westwood’s defense stood tall down the stretch to secure the win.
 
Defenders Ethan Buttner, Sam Meng, and Harrison Hayes were instrumental in anchoring the back line, helping the Wolverines build their early advantage and withstand Holliston’s late surge.

With the win, Westwood starts the season 1-0 and gains early momentum in the TVL Large. The Wolverines return home for their next matchup against Norwood on Thursday, September 4th at 6:00 p.m.
