Sattiraju Brothers Shine as Westwood Fights to Draw With Canton

On Friday night, the Westwood boys soccer team went on the road and battled to a hard-fought 1–1 tie against a tough Canton squad. The result moves the Wolverines one step closer to solidifying themselves as a resilient and disciplined group in TVL play.
 
Canton struck first, capitalizing in the opening eight minutes to take a 1–0 lead. Westwood had a golden opportunity to equalize later in the first half when Trevor Ferreira connected on a left-footed volley that was headed for the top right corner, but Canton’s goalkeeper made an outstanding save to preserve the lead heading into halftime.
 
The Wolverines came out strong to start the second half, and their pressure paid off within five minutes. Ferreira sent a cross into the box that Jacob Daly controlled before laying it off to Avik Sattiraju, who turned and fired a strike into the back of the net to tie the game at 1–1.
 
From there, the game turned into a defensive battle. Ansh Sattiraju came up with several clutch saves to keep Westwood even, while Jack Tateosian anchored the midfield with a composed and gritty performance on both ends.
 
Although Westwood would have preferred to leave with three points, the Wolverines showed character and toughness on the road under the lights. They’ll look to carry that momentum into next week’s matchup at home against Norton on Tuesday, followed by a rivalry showdown with Medfield on Thursday.
