Christen’s Corner: Boring Is Effective

By: Christen Cadigan

By March, fitness usually starts to feel… boring.

The excitement of January is gone. The motivation boost has worn off. You’re doing the same workouts, making the same choices, and nothing feels new anymore. That’s usually when people start wondering if what they’re doing is even working.

Here’s the truth most people don’t like hearing. Boring is effective.

The habits that actually change your body and your health are rarely exciting. They’re simple. They’re repetitive. And they don’t come with instant results.

Showing up to the same workout each week. Eating similar meals most days. Drinking water before coffee. Choosing to move even when motivation is low. None of that is flashy, but it works.

Progress almost always feels boring before it feels rewarding. Results lag behind consistency, and by March, many people quit simply because they’re tired of repeating the basics. Not because the basics aren’t working.

This is the part where trust is built. Trust in the process and trust in yourself. Every time you show up without hype or motivation, you reinforce the habit. You don’t need a new plan. You don’t need to do more. You need time.

If things feel repetitive right now, that’s not a sign to change everything. It’s a sign to stay the course.

Fitness isn’t about constantly starting over. It’s about continuing, even when it feels ordinary.

So if March feels boring, take it as a good sign. It usually means it’s working.
