Field Hockey: Late Goal from Emma FitzPatrick Delivers Wolverines A Tie at Norwood To Open Season

September 8, 2026

Emma FitzPatrick scored in expired time to draw Westwood even with Norwood and clinch a 4-4 tie in the season opener.

FitzPatrick’s goal saved the day for Westwood, who knew the first game of the year would be a challenge against a fantastic TVL opponent. The Wolverines got a pair of goals from Julie Hogan, and Bridget Hughes also scored.

Norwood and Westwood tied 1-1 during last year’s September matchup, and the Wolverines earned a 1-0 win in the rematch, on the road, which was played in October. This year’s second matchup will be back at Westwood on October 15.

Westwood (0-0-1) will host Hopkinton Thursday afternoon in the home opener, scheduled for 4:45pm at Westwood High School.
