Pindel, McDonald and Kamolratanapiboon Shine As Westwood Trounces Oliver Ames

The Westwood Football team got back above .500 with a resounding 41-13 win over Oliver Ames at Flahive Field. Ty Pindel, Keilan McDonald and Narawut Kamolratanapiboon stood out in the dominant victory, played in challenging conditions.
 
A stiff breeze wind from the south end zone and Westwood took advantage in the first quarter, scoring three times to seize control of the game. Less than three minutes in, Pindel connected with Teddy McGowan from 36 yards out to put Westwood on top 7-0.
 
Later in the first quarter, after a pair of Pindel-to-McDonald passes covered 37 yards, Kamolratanapiboon capped the drive with an 11-yard burst up the gut. A failed two-point conversion kept the score 13-0.
 
The Wolverines got back on the board once more before the quarter ended, with Pindel finding McDonald from 27 yards away for a score to make it 20-0.
 
Oliver Ames scored in the second quarter when Desahn Walker returned an interception 40 yards for six, but Westwood took a 20-6 lead into halftime.
 
Westwood struck early in the third when Pindel fired a pass to Murphy O’Malley, who finished off a 15-yard touchdown play by barreling his way to the end zone after catching the ball on the eight-yard-line. Jon Bertone’s extra point made it 27-6 with 9:27 to play in the quarter.
 
Pindel threw one more touchdown pass, an 18-yard strike to McDonald, who caught a laser beam in traffic across the middle to extend the lead to 34-6.
 
After the Tigers scored from 24 yards away to make it 34-13 in the fourth quarter, the Wolverines finished off the game with a two-yard touchdown run from Pindel, finalizing the score at 41-13.
 
The defensive effort was outstanding, and Westwood got solid performances from Mike Zafiropoulos, Jack Corrigan, JR Drayton, Peter Homsy and Kamolratanapiboon, who intercepted a pass in the second half.
 
Jack Button was also impressive with a number of runs on the offensive side.
 
With the win, Westwood improves to 5-4 on the season, and will learn their next opponent shortly.
