The Westwood Girls Soccer team opened the season in dominant fashion, knocking off Norwood 6-0 behind a hat trick from Michelle Asriyan and goals from Natalie Unger and Charlie Jurgens .
The Wolverines put two in the net in the first half. Unger scored just ten minutes in as she found herself in open space, and Jurgens followed it up with a second goal less than two minutes later.
Norwood goalkeeper Raegan Curran kept the Mustangs in the game with some solid play for the remainder of the half, and the teams went to the break with Westwood on top 2-0.
The third goal, which is typically a back-breaker, was scored by Asriyan, who gathered a brilliant pass from Erin Gannon and buried her first career varsity goal with 34:10 left in the second half.
Unger scored her second of the game with 26:38 remaining to make it 4-0, and Asriyan immediately got on the board again less than a minute later when she lobbed a shot over the defense and past the outstretched arms of the keeper.
Asriyan put the finishing touches on her stellar debut with a third goal, netted with just under seven minutes to play, as her shot trickled over the goal line.
Westwood takes it’s 1-0 record on the road to face Weymouth on Thursday.
