Girls Soccer: First Goals, Big Milestones Highlight Westwood’s Rout of Millis

The Westwood Girls Soccer team put together a complete performance on Thursday, rolling to a 6–0 road victory over Millis to improve to 6-2-1 on the season. The Wolverines saw contributions from all over the field, highlighted by a mix of veteran leadership and first-time varsity breakthroughs.

Captain Izzy Hanson continued her stellar season, recording one goal and three assists for a four-point night, while also setting up multiple key chances. Erin Gannon found the back of the net as well, marking her third straight game with a goal, further cementing her role as a prolific offensive threat.

On the back line, Avery Boehm made one of the highlights of the match, bursting forward on a 40-yard run to finish at the back post for a rare but spectacular goal from an outside back. Olivia Shea added another trademark header goal off a perfectly delivered Hanson corner.

The night also featured milestone moments for Anna Averill, who scored her first — and then second — career varsity goals, and Cassidy McGovern, who picked up two assists to fuel the attack.

Defensively, the Wolverines were equally dominant. Olivia Mason not only anchored a back line that earned the shutout but also made program history, recording her 16th career shutout as a defender, moving her into third place all-time and passing her sister, Ella.

It was a commanding victory that showed Westwood’s depth, balance, and growth as they near the midway point of the season.
