What’s Happening At Hale – April, 2026

By: Hale Education

April showers bring the best kind of adventure at Hale. As the land begins to thaw, our 1,200 acres come alive with flowing streams, budding trees, and wildlife emerging from hibernation. With miles of trails, forests, meadows, and ponds, spring is a season of discovery.

During Hale’s School Vacation Days from April 21–23, kids ages 4–12 hike, follow newly flowing water systems, spot early spring plants, and watch animals reappear after winter. Warmer days also bring fishing, boating, outdoor games, and even mountain biking. Spots are still available, but they’re going fast!

Westwood Community Trails (WCT) monthly hikes continue this spring, as well. These free, guided walks last two hours, vary in terrain and distance, and require no RSVP. Saturday, May 2, WCT explores Powisset Farm. Participants should meet at 39 Powisset Street in Dover for this 3–4-mile hike over mixed terrain. Looking to hike with a deeper purpose? We invite you to choose from multiple locations throughout Westwood available for an Earth Day Cleanup in the month of April.

More comfortable on wheels? MTB at Hale programs are online and sending it this season. April 25–26, choose from Intro to MTB, Intro to Jump, and Advanced Jump clinics, celebrate the end of mud season at Final de Barro MTB Race, or celebrate the power of women on bikes at this year’s 2-day Everwild: Women’s MTB Day at Hale. Our year-round Youth Mountain Biking Club for ages 8–14 just began its new cycle as well, and young bikers are welcome to join any time.

Looking forward to summer, registration is open for Hale Summer CampsHale’s Family & Community Program, as well as group and private Swimming Lessons. Now is the perfect time to secure your spot and start dreaming of long summer days spent swimming, paddling, and reconnecting with friends and neighbors by the water.

Remember, year-round parking is now available free of charge in lots accessible via Hale’s Main Entrance at 80 Carby Street (8 AM to 7 PM daily through April 30), supporting wider community access to the property. Whether you’re exploring spring trails, joining a community hike, or planning summer on the beach, there’s always something happening at Hale.
