Healthy Eating: March, 2026

By: Matt LaSpisa

March is a month of transition. The days are getting longer, routines start to shift, and many of us are starting to think about that season of renewal. From a nutrition standpoint, this is a great time to reset – not with extreme changes, but with smart, intentional choices.

After a winter of heavier meals and comfort foods, your body often NEEDS lighter, fresher fuel. Start by adding color back to your plate. Think leafy greens, citrus fruits, berries, and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts. These foods are packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber that help support digestion, energy levels, and immune health as we move into spring.

Protein always remains essential, especially as activity levels increase. Lean sources like eggs, chicken, fish, Greek yogurt, beans, and lentils help stabilize blood sugar and keep you feeling full and focused throughout the day. Now… pair those proteins with complex carbohydrates like oats, quinoa, sweet potatoes, or whole-grain breads, and you’ll find it provides steady energy without the spikes and crashes you may otherwise experience.

Hydration! Can’t stress it enough. You probably don’t drink enough during the colder months, so make a pledge to drink water consistently throughout the day. Even mild dehydration can impact your focus, mood, and performance.

March is a great time to simplify. You don’t need a perfect diet, you just need better habits. Cook more at home, snack with purpose, and listen to your body’s hunger cues. Small adjustments are always the key. Your body is already shifting with the season. Fuel it well, and you’ll feel the difference. Eat right and keep moving!
