Joshua Mitchell Hired to Lead Westwood Boys Soccer Program

Joshua Mitchell, who joined the Westwood faculty in 2024 as a biology teacher, was named head coach of the Boys Varsity Soccer team. In a social media post shared Monday, July 14, the athletic department welcomed Mitchell to his new role:
 
“We are thrilled to introduce Coach Mitchell, who is taking helm as the Varsity Boys Soccer coach this season. Coach Mitchell brings a wealth of experience and a winning mentality to our program. A four-year varsity soccer player and senior captain at Stoughton High, he led the team to back-to-back playoff appearances, ending a 15-year post season drought. He then played two years at American International College before transferring to Bridgewater State University, where he was part of the 2018 MASCAC Championship team in his senior year. His coaching journey began in 2022 as the Freshman Boys Soccer coach at Duxbury High School, followed by a successful stint as the JV Boys Soccer coach at Westwood High School in 2024. Now, we’re excited to see him lead our Varsity Boys Soccer team. Beyond soccer, Coach Mitchell also excelled in high school basketball and track and field, even competing at state level for javelin in 2016. Please join us in welcoming Coach Mitchell!”
 
The Westwood Soccer team finished the 2024 season with a 7-5-5 record.
