Medical Aesthetics: It Starts With A Warm Welcome

By: Tom Leyden

As I sit across from Allison Daly and Lindsey Gillooly, there’s a feeling of calm and comfort, which is astounding when you consider how incredibly busy both women are, every day. Medical Aesthetics, while still in its first year of existence in Westwood, is a well-oiled machine. The location on High Street, opened to the public in November of 2024, is the fourth iteration, with successful clinics also operating in Easton, Hingham and Milton.

The formula works, and most important to the success of that formula are the personal touch, friendliness and connection you feel from the staff the moment you walk through the door. In many ways, it feels like home, and the response from customers has confirmed the vision.

“Of all the four locations when we opened up, it’s been the quickest to fill the schedules,” said Allison.

Medical Aesthetics announced its presence with authority, hosting a rousing grand opening party last December. Friends, family and customers packed the place as music played, drinks were served and food was passed. It was a sign of things to come.

“It was really fun,” said Lindsey. “We had an awesome DJ, Christina Zinno, who is also from Westwood, and Doug Pollard did a great job with the catering. It was a nice kickoff to what very quickly became a very busy business.”

The Med Spa industry is booming as medicine advances and clinicians like Lindsey and Allison stay on top of new treatments aimed at keeping your body and skin in shape. It’s an evolving business that owners must stay engaged with, no matter how busy the day-to-day of managing four locations may be. This is where Allison, a fun-loving, warm and gentle spirit, gets serious.

“Clinically, Lindsay and I go to American Medical Spa Association conferences every year to stay up on the trends,” said Allison. “We receive their mailings, all their magazines, and we have meetings with them remotely throughout the year, as well, so we’re up to date on that. How do we really know what’s going to fly? I have to say, I rely on Emily Brems, our CEO, who crunches all the data. What time of the year do treatments spike, and what time of the year do they maybe fall off? We live in New England. We are not going to tell people not to go to the beach when we only have three months of sun out of the year, but we do know that some of our treatments must change because of that.”

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution and the wide range of services have appealed to a broad audience.

“We actually have a flow of all different ages, men and women,” said Lindsey. “In fact, more men are visiting us than in prior years. I think treatments such as IV therapy, hormonal therapy, functional medicine have been catered a little bit more to the men that may not have entered a medical spa before. That has been a nice addition, but I think what’s really important and so fantastic about our company is our staff represents all different ages. Allison recently took a photo with a nurse we have in her 20s, a nurse we have in her 30s, and herself in her 40s. We’re trying to represent all the decades. That really is how you stay up close and personal. If you’re working here, you’ve experienced the treatment yourself, and there’s nothing better than that word-of-mouth testimonial that says, ‘Here’s why I do it and I’m right in your age group, right?’”

Once a client gets comfortable with the staff and the surroundings, it’s inevitable he or she will begin asking questions about additional services and how those services might enhance their lives.

“We did read the market and we realized permanent makeup was something Westwood needed, so we were able to get our certification and go through with that,” said Allison. “Our clinician is licensed and divides her time at our locations. She comes to Westwood to see clients and that’s been wonderful. A lot of people asked for that and we delivered. As we age, we lose hair, and we lose it everywhere. It’s really alarming to patients when they start losing their eyebrows and they feel like there’s nothing they can do. They don’t want to paint them on every day. This for men and women. This is something that affects everybody. Permanent makeup includes doing eyebrows, doing eyeliner, doing lips, which is permanent color. It’s become very, very popular and our clinician is absolutely incredible.”

Allison and Lindsey have enjoyed getting to know their neighbors – incredible people and businesses tucked in the space between the Post Office and The Toast Office.

“It’s been a wonderful welcoming by all of our neighbors since the day we opened the doors,” said Allison. “We really enjoy the community. Because there are so many different offerings within our plaza, we always know where to send someone for hair. We know where to send someone to buy a last-minute gift or where to go for a tuna wrap. Walk-ins at that location are probably at our highest of all our locations, so we’ve definitely seen the love in return.”
