Volleyball Head Coach JC Whalen Introduces New Assistants

Westwood Volleyball Head Coach Justyne Whalen introduced two new assistants on Saturday, August 2, sharing some information about their backgrounds and welcoming back a familiar face to the program.
 
Fabiola Garcon has assumed the role of JV coach, and she introduced herself this way:
 
“Hi, I’m Coach Fab! With a lifelong passion for volleyball and years of experience both playing and coaching, I bring high henergy and a love for the game to every practice. I’ve coached at the club and high school levels, helping athletes sharpen their skills, build confidence and play as a team. My coaching style blends competitive drive with a positive, encouraging approach. I believe the best players are built through hard work and having fun on the court! So excited to have a great season.”
 
Sarah Homsy, a former Wolverines volleyball player, is back, this time as Freshman coach.
 
“I grew up in Westwood and attended Westwood High, where I played volleyball at all three levels – freshman, JV and varsity – as well as Club Volleyball at MGA. I went on to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering, where I also served as the manager of the varsity volleyball team. I’m currently working as a Test Engineer at an aerospace company.”
 
Sarah is the cousin of one of last year’s captains, Angelina Homsy, who will play this year at Wentworth University.
 
Head Coach Justyne Whalen also shared some information about her background.
 
“I am beyond excited to return to Westwood Volleyball this year, in my second season as head coach. I previously coached the freshman team for one year and the JV team for seven years, so this will be my 10th year coaching for Westwood High School. My passion for volleyball runs deep, having played for four years at Boston Latin School and continuing to play as an adult. I am currently still teaching 8th Grade ELA at Thurston, as well.”
