Westwood Pee Wee Hockey Team Wins Green Mountain Shootout

In a weekend that will be talked about in New England youth hockey circles for years to come, the Westwood Pee Wee AAA team etched its name into tournament lore by winning the Green Mountain Shootout at Jay Peak Resort. Against elite competition, in a setting that demands both skill and resilience, Westwood delivered a performance defined by depth, grit, and an unforgettable championship finale that may go down as one of the greatest Pee Wee games ever played.
 
From the opening faceoff of the tournament to the final shot of a nine-round shootout, Westwood
showed it belonged among the region’s best. The road to the championship began with a commanding 6–2 victory over the Maine Moose. Westwood came out flying, setting the tone with relentless pressure, crisp puck movement, and a balanced attack.
 
That momentum carried into the second game, where Westwood defeated the Danbury Hat Tricks 6–1.
 
The score reflected not just offensive firepower, but a commitment to team defense. Westwood clogged the neutral zone, forced turnovers, and transitioned quickly, turning defense into offense again and again.
 
The third game against the Boston Advantage was a true measuring stick. Boston brought speed,
physicality, and pedigree, but Westwood earned a hard-fought 5–2 win. Strong shifts from every line tilted the ice, and timely goals broke the game open, punching Westwood’s ticket to the championship.
 
The final showcased Westwood’s heart. Trailing 2–0 heading into the third period, the team never
panicked. Nick Button took the game over, scoring twice in the third period to tie the game and force overtime. Despite chances at both ends, the game went to a dramatic shootout.
 
What followed was an epic nine-round shootout. Dylan French was outstanding in net, matching save for save under immense pressure. In the ninth round, Jack FitzGerald scored the championship-winning goal, sending the Westwood bench into celebration. The title was a complete team effort. Riley Kelleher led the offense with five goals, followed by Nick Button with four. Keegan Dunn, Colin Galvin, and Jake Sicular each added two goals, while Connor Kelleher chipped in one.  
On defense, Harrison Latter and Shay Monahan anchored the blue line all weekend with poised,
physical play. Up front, Daniel Kelleher, Ryan Dupre, and Griff Gustie set the tone with relentless
forechecking and smart passing.
 
In goal, Dylan French was exceptional throughout the tournament, providing the calm, consistent presence that championship teams rely on.
 
The Green Mountain Shootout title was more than a trophy. It was a statement of resilience, teamwork, and belief. For Westwood Pee Wee AAA, Jay Peak will forever be remembered as the place where a special group came together and delivered a championship performance for the ages.
